Creating a Character
We strongly suggest that you create a full character history for your character before you begin play. This will help give you a much deeper sense of who your character is and why she has come to the game location. It will also provide the King's Gate plot committee with a means of incorporating your character into the ongoing story line. Additionally, players who turn in character backgrounds before beginning play will have 3 additional character points with which to create their character.

Because there are no "character classes" in King's Gate, you are free to create any kind of character you want. Do not use the lists of Abilities, Advantages, and Disadvantages as a checklist; instead, make a list for yourself of the kinds of things you think your character would be able to do, and then try to match up your list with the ones listed in the Character Creation Rules section.

Players have 40 starting character points with which to build their character; 43 if you have turned in a character history (and it has been approved) 30 days prior to your first event. Character points may be spent in any way the player desires, though players are encouraged to build characters that "make sense" rather than "min-maxing". Some abilities have a different cost, or are even impossible to obtain, once a character is created. This is the case for all Advantages and Disadvantages (Chapter 3: Advantages and Disadvantages). We do, however, allow new players to respend their character points after their first event if desired.

Character histories and expenditures may be submitted to the KG Plot Committee for approval.
