Spellcasters can be broken down into two distinct types: Naming Magic and Geasa Magic.
Naming Magic
Practitioners of Naming Magic channel power by speaking a mystic phrase known as the Naming and focusing their will through a mystic object known as Focus. By these acts, they influence the natural world around them, drawing on one ore more Schools of Training for power. These influences can be used for protections, to combative blows to strike down foes in battle, and occasionally for more esoteric purposes.
Naming Mages exist in six different schools: Brahir, Cambiare, Kelet, Lirite, Nokutai Naran, and Watchers.
Geasa Magic
Those with gifts of Geasa Magic weave the magic of Spirit or Tal around them. To influence the world, they channel their Will into spells of healing and protection. They are bound by Geasa -- prohibitions and requirements specific to each branch -- that protect themselves from dark corruption.
Geasa Mages are part of the Order of Knowledge which has three branches: the Sword, the Shield and the Seekers.
