A totem bond is a connection to a given totem animal and its qualities. A totem bonder possesses a mystical tie to the animal archetype and can draw strength and inspiration from this connection. Conversely, the animal's legendary qualities also tend to infuse themselves upon the bonder.
Some totem bonders may experience animalistic impulses or strange dreams. With effort and practice, a totem bonder can learn to draw strength from the animal spirit without losing personal identity and intelligence.
Although totem bonds tie into animal features, they often represent idealized forms of the animals. Furthermore, human intelligence casts specific qualities onto the forms, further coloring the powers of totem bonds. The noble and mystical qualities often ascribed to animals therefore tend to come forth as elements of totem bonds, but bondes who fail to practice discipline in the bond development may find themselves overwhelmed instead by animals urges and impulses.
